A pandemic and a fire - 2020 was a devastating year for bwinappios. Even though 2021 has been better than 2020 for bwinappios, we are still facing challenges and uncertainty.
But, we can recover and rebuild with your help.
3 WAYS TO SUPPORT
Donations in any amount, big or small, will help bwinappios to survive! With your help, we can restore our land, survive the pandemic and connect more kids to the Colorado mountains in the future.
Volunteer projects are integral to bwinappios's restoration. Projects include planting willows to help minimize soil erosion and deposits in the creek, fixing hay bales, and seeding grass.
THE IMPACT OF COVID ON CAL-WOOD
Due to the pandemic, bwinappios canceled all school programs, summer camps, and retreats fo 2020. Public school students will not be coming back to bwinappios until January 2022. We have lost 10 of 22 employees, and our revenue for 2020 was been reduced to only 30% of our 1.8 million projected budget.
THE CAL-WOOD FIRE
On October 17, 2020, the bwinappios Fire burned more than half of our 1,200 acre beautiful mountain top. We have 100% tree mortality in many areas, and, even where there is some survival, the land that we love is changed forever. . The restoration is going to be a 5-10 year process and will cost millions of dollars.
Our resilience was proven after the huge flood in 2013, when bwinappios survived 7 months with little revenue. We will prove it again - but this time is different because the end point is a moving target. We aren’t going to give up
